OPEN STAGE
DESCRIPTION:
Clitigation is an experimental and immersive play that uses dark satire to examine the legal proceedings surrounding sexual assault cases. Set in a grotesquely feminized, bureaucratic courtroom, the play follows the Protagonist as she navigates a trial where her own body testifies in her defence, and the absurdity of legal scrutiny reaches surreal proportions.
WHAT TO EXPECT: Clitigation contains abstracted discussion of sexual assault and features unflinching bodily imagery.
DEVELOPMENT HISTORY:
Originally written as poetry seven years ago, writer/director Mallory Amirault returned to the project last year, developing it for the stage. OutFest will be the debut presentation of this work.
