DESCRIPTION:
Sparkle and Storybooks is a drag experience for all ages! Join your hosts MissShapen and AnarKid for an afternoon of drag story-time, performance, and fun! Showcasing a cast of LGBTQIA+ youth performers, this show is suitable for even the youngest audience members. We will read you some wonderful books, treat you to some fabulous drag acts, and have a sparkling good time together!
WHAT TO EXPECT: Our show involves performances and storytelling. We will read picture books with LGBTQIA+ and social justice themes that are age-appropriate for young children. Our drag acts involve characters in costumes and make-up performing to music. Feel free to bring pillows or blankets to be comfy, or to sit on the floor to be closer to the show. We will have ASL interpretation, and images from the books will be projected onto a large screen.

DEVELOPMENT HISTORY:
This format of a drag show and story-time event for youth, by youth was first brought to the stage during Pride 2025. Our LGBTQIA+ youth community has many bright stars, and not many performance opportunities, so we started creating them! MissShapen provides the (theoretically) responsible adult producer duties, and youth producer AnarKid is learning the ropes. For this performance we are thrilled to have increased our accessibility with ASL interpretation and large projections of book illustrations.
